A New Venture....
A warm greeting to all of you. My name is Michael Gibson, and I am a highly ambitious, yet very humble, professional musician. I've been very happy making a full living as a musician for the past several years, but I always have dreams to keep climbing higher and higher. I will probably never be fully satisfied with my position, but I think that's a good thing. It drives me forward.
To be totally honest with whomever may be reading this, I am a complete beginner with this site. I am only learning about what to do with it, and what it's all about. I will get better as I go along. I promise. Until then, I'll post blogs about my current status and goals. But to sum up Michael Gibson, I'm a very eccentric and complex individual, but it's an eccentricity and complexity that makes me interesting. From Austin, TX, this Michael Gibson, and I will be back shortly.
About Me
Michael John Patrick GibsonI am a professional multi-instrumentalist (keyboards are my specialty), composer, vocalist, beatmaker, recording engineer, and music instructor based in Austin, TX. I attended West Texas A&M University on four classical piano scholarships and graduated in 2005, Cum Laude, with a Bachelor's in Music Composition, and through a multitude of experiences, I have made my living as a professional musician ever since, beginning with my membership in a musical theater orchestra called "Amarillo Little Theater."
After moving to Austin, I have spent time as a touring and studio musician. I have recently been highly involved in "Space Radio," a company of musicians which composes and records original music for Independent Film soundtracks. I also perform regularly as a church/wedding/event pianist, and as a vocalist/keyboardist on the nightclub scene, with a very diverse repertoire of styles including, but not limited to: classic rock, alternative, jazz, blues, metal, hip hop, classical, R 'n' B, pop, electronic, and progressive rock.
My most recent venture is a one-man band project in which I sing, play keyboard, and trigger original beats and samples on a drum machine all at the same time. I performed this show at last year's Backwoods Bash in Oklahoma, and will perform there again in May of 2010. I am currently writing and recording new music for this project.
